Financial Controller (Navan)
Our client, a successful and growing Irish business operating within the motor retail sector, is seeking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function and partner closely with the senior leadership team.
This is a highly visible role offering genuine breadth and variety. Reporting directly to the Directors, the Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of financial control, reporting, cash management, compliance, and team leadership, while also providing commercial insight to support business performance and strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong financial governance while helping to drive continuous improvement across the finance function and wider business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
- Lead the month-end process and ensure the delivery of accurate and timely management accounts.
- Maintain strong balance sheet controls and oversee reconciliations across key accounts.
- Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful commentary and insight to management.
- Ensure financial information is accurate, reliable, and delivered in line with reporting deadlines.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Manage the day-to-day cash position of the business and ensure effective working capital management.
- Monitor debtors and support timely collections.
- Oversee banking activities, cash forecasting, and treasury requirements.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all statutory and Revenue obligations are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain robust financial controls and support the annual audit process.
- Manage key compliance requirements and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Commercial Support
- Partner with senior management to support operational and commercial decision-making.
- Provide analysis on business performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain oversight of vehicle stock funding and support profitability through accurate financial reporting.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
- Oversee supplier payments and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ensure effective control of debtor balances and working capital.
- Support efficient finance processes across the business.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to the Directors and wider management team.
- Liaise with external auditors and other professional advisors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, reporting, and controls.
About You
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
- Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role.
- Strong management accounting, financial reporting and cash flow management experience.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
- Strong people management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Experience within retail, distribution, automotive or another fast-paced environment would be advantageous
