Title: Desktop Support & Hardware Engineer

Location: Dublin City Centre (onsite 5 days a week)

Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Desktop Support & Hardware Engineer to join a busy, high-performance technology environment in Dublin. This is a hands-on desktop engineering role with a strong focus on hardware, PC builds and complex workstation support. You will be responsible for building, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting high-specification desktop systems, as well as providing 1st and 2nd level support to a large user base. The role would suit someone who enjoys working with hardware and getting hands-on with PCs, rather than a purely software or ticket-based support position.

THIS IS A FULL TIME ONSITE 5 DAYS A WEEK ROLE

For This Role:

· Build, configure and deploy high-specification desktop PCs and workstations.

· Install and replace hardware components including RAM, graphics cards, storage and other internal components.

· Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and desktop performance issues.

· Configure and support multiple-monitor workstations, including 4 x 4K display setups.

· Support and troubleshoot KVM switches, docking stations, monitors, printers, peripherals and other desktop equipment.

· Prepare new PCs from initial hardware configuration through to software installation and user deployment.

· Carry out hardware upgrades, replacements and preventative maintenance.

· Provide 1st and 2nd level support for Windows desktop hardware and software.

· Troubleshoot Windows operating system, application and configuration issues.

· Manage user accounts, permissions and access through Active Directory.

· Deploy and manage software using tools such as Microsoft Intune and SCCM.

· Investigate and resolve incidents through a ticketing system.

· Work closely with infrastructure, development and other technology teams to resolve complex issues.

· Maintain accurate technical documentation, knowledge bases and build procedures.

· Assist with procurement and lifecycle management of desktop hardware and peripherals.

Hardware Experience:

A strong hardware background is essential for this position. You should be comfortable working directly with desktop PCs and components, including:

· Building and configuring PCs from components.

· Installing and replacing RAM, graphics cards and storage.

· Troubleshooting hardware faults.

· Diagnosing display and graphics issues.

· Supporting high-performance workstations.

· Configuring complex multi-monitor environments.

· Working with KVM switches and specialist peripherals.

· Installing operating systems and configuring machines for deployment.

We are looking for someone who is technically hands-on, highly practical and confident working with hardware. You will be comfortable taking ownership of an issue from diagnosis through to resolution, whether that involves replacing a graphics card, rebuilding a workstation, configuring a multi-screen setup or troubleshooting a Windows issue. Strong attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure are essential. The role also involves shift flexibility and occasional out-of-hours support.
