Job Title: Financial Accountant

Location: Cobh, Cork

Our client, a leading international logistics company, is seeking a financial accountant to join their rapidly growing Finance team.

This is a newly created position and an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented tax professional to support tax compliance and reporting across Ireland and international jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare monthly management accounts for select divisions.

· Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.

· Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

· Prepare and submit VAT returns.

· Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.

· Prepare reports / documentation for divisional heads for billing purposes.

· Manage year-end closing processes.

· Support internal audits by preparing required documentation.

· Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

· Analyse financial data and provide management with reports and recommendations.

· Improve financial controls and accounting processes.

· Liaise with auditors and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

· Qualified Accountant with 1 to 2 years PQE.

· Must have worked in a fast-paced environment.

Experience

· 2 – 4 year’s experience in financial accounting or a similar finance role.

· Experience preparing financial statements.

· Experience with month-end and year-end reporting.

· Experience working with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge

· Financial reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP, or applicable local standards).

· Financial controls and internal audit procedures.

Skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
